The likely buyer of Gorse Hill is a businessman in his 30s or 40s who left Ireland for work overseas.

Money generated from business in the tech, financial or pharma sector will help reach the €8.5m asking price for the mansion.

The above profile is the most likely fit for the eventual buyer of Gorse Hill, the O'Donnell family's former luxury home at Vico Road, Killiney, which came to market last month after a dramatic and drawn-out court battle. The composite buyer profile is based on the recent experiences of Dublin estate agents working at the top end of the market.

Irish-based buyers no longer have cash to splash at the top end of the market. And according to one estate agent: "These days anyone going into a bank looking for a mortgage for an €8.5m home will be taken out in a strait jacket."

While agents have remained tight-lipped on whether or not there has been a bid on the property so far, they have confirmed that a "good number of parties" have viewed the house.

Four of the home's six bedrooms offer breathtaking views of the sea. The property has its own personal gym and sauna, swimming pool and tennis court.
