THERE'S big hair and there's fantasy big hair crossed with encrusted curlers, plaits, shorn locks and the odd ice cream cone thrown in.
The Peter Mark Hairdressing Style Awards showed how creative stylists can be when invited to take their tongs, hair extensions and imagination on a wild day out.
There was sushi hair cut like rice rolls and neapolitan, back-combed hair resembling three scoops of ice cream.
More than 200 stylists from Peter Mark's 72 salons around the country battled it out in trainee, women, gents and fantasy categories, watched by hundreds of guests at Dublin's Burlington Hotel yesterday.
When the winners were announced, it was a clean sweep for the Style Club salon on South William Street.
Danielle Whelan won the trainee category with her model Lauren Taylor, Edita Andonova won the gents section with her model Derk Dekorver and Eilish Maloney won the ladies section with her model Laura Rooney.
Ruth Robertson from Peter Mark, St Stephen's Green Centre, won the creative fantasy category for the second year in a row.
