Glitch prevents Lotto winners from collecting prizes

A technical glitch meant that winners of various lottery prizes were unable to collect their winnings for a short time on Thursday.

A small number of people who won prizes ranging from free tickets to cash prizes of up to €60 couldn't access their winnings between 1.15pm and 1.30pm, the National Lottery revealed yesterday.

Anyone who tried to claim a prize during that time is asked to contact 1800 366566 or send an email to customer.services@lottery. ie.

Meanwhile, a builder and his family were celebrating last night after scooping €250,000.

John Paul Redmond, his wife Adrienne and their son Dylan (3), from Arklow, Co Wicklow, were still reeling when they collected their winnings from the National Lottery headquarters in Dublin yesterday.

"It hasn't sunk in yet," Mr Redmond said of his winning €6 Quick Pick ticket bought at their local Tesco shop on the Wexford Road last Saturday.

Mr Redmond, who owns MacReamoinn Construction in Arklow, said he only realised they had won the top prize in last Saturday's Lotto Plus One draw through neighbours.

"I only checked the ticket on Wednesday. It had been sitting on top of the fridge since the draw on Saturday and I heard some neighbours saying that there was a local winner," he said.
