Glasgow police investigating weekend murder of Donegal man outside his home

POLICE in Glasgow are investigating the murder of a Donegal man who was killed outside his home on Sunday.

William McKeeney, who was a lorry driver from Donegal’s Malin Head, was attacked by two men in Melville Street, Pollokshields.

He had been subjected to a “sustained and violent” attack and left unconscious on the sidewalk, according to police.

The 57-year old died from his injuries after being taken to the Victoria hospital.

Mr McKeeney had moved to Scotland five years ago and his family are being provided with consular advice by the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Detective Inspector David Gailey said: Mr McKeeney suffered massive injuries to his head and body in what can only be described as a brutal and sustained attack.”

Police are looking for two men, described as being of Asian appearance, in connection with the murder.
