Hundreds have given it some welly at a New Year's Day race.
The people of Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny, brushed off the cobwebs yesterday and took to the streets in rubber boots.
It was a colourful spectacle in the north Kilkenny town, where floats entertained the families who turned out to watch.
Members of the Castlecomer Ladies GAA team were among those taking part in the fancy dress parade.
The women dressed as nuns and called themselves 'Sisters Act Gaelic for Mothers Castlecomer'.
One man -- Freddie Farrell from Ballyragget -- took the opposition to the septic tank charge to the next level by protesting on his toilet seat.
Kilkenny hurling legend 'King' Henry Shefflin inspired another costume with Martin Walsh dressing up as the All-Star hero.
