Girls show signs of brilliance
Four transition year students who created a mobile phone app to teach sign language yesterday won a top junior entrepeneurs' award.
Sign4Life, a company started by Colleen Mullane, Ciara Reidy, Caoimhe O'Neill (all 16) and Fiona Mangan (15) from Salesian College, Pallaskenry, Co Limerick, saw off competition from almost 2,000 secondary students to claim the title of Junior Achievement Company of the Year 2012.
Called the Irish Sign Language App, it is now available to download for €4.49, with a percentage of proceeds going to the Limerick School for the Deaf. "We're absolutely delighted. We were screaming and jumping around the place when they announced we won," said managing director Colleen.
