Girl power . . . making a plan for all women
Plan Ireland, the Irish branch of overseas children's charity Plan, yesterday called for an international day of recognition for young women.
Its annual report released yesterday found many stereotypical beliefs about gender roles in society were still entrenched among young people across the developed and developing world.
The report, which surveyed 4,000 under-18s worldwide, found almost half of children in the developing world believed it was more important to educate a boy than a girl.
Plan Ireland David Dalton called on men and boys to stand up for women's and girls' rights.
