At a sentencing hearing at Letterkenny Circuit Court, Aine Doohan wept as she apologised for the horrific attack -- footage of which was recorded on CCTV.

Doohan, of Meenamillar, Derrybeg, was just 17 when she attacked friend Donal Ferry outside a takeaway in Bunbeg, Co Donegal, on May 9, 2009.

Judge John O'Hagan said the attack was "savage".

He adjourned sentence to November 4 when he will also sentence her former boyfriend Daniel Duffy of Lower Cotteen, Derrybeg, who was found guilty of assault and possession of a weapon at trial earlier this year.
