The alarming threat to the 16-year-old daughter of John Rogers, a property developer from Ardee, Co Louth, took place on April 13, as she was waiting for a school bus.

The teenager was standing at the bus stop outside her family's home on the outskirts of Ardee at 7.55am when a silver car pulled up.

Two men wearing black balaclavas got out of the car and one of them caught hold of the girl. However, she managed to wriggle free and ran back up the driveway to the family home.

Her assailants fled the scene. Her parents took her immediately to Ardee garda station, and an investigation is now under way.

A garda spokesman condemned the incident, describing it as a "terrifying experience for the 16-year-old and her family". He said that several lines of inquiry were being pursued.

The suspects for the attack are thought to have links to dissident paramilitaries. Detectives have searched a number of premises and several items have been seized. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Mr Rogers is a director of Mulreid Construction.
