German President follows in footsteps of Leopold Bloom
The President of Germany Joachim Gault expressed a wish to "wander the streets of Dublin and to follow the path taken by Joyce's protagonist, Leopold Bloom".
On the second day of his three-day state visit to Ireland, President Gault covered quite a bit of ground from Farmleigh to CityWest to meet with staff of German tech company SAP, before visiting Leinster House. He rounded off his busy day on a cultural note in Trinity College.
Today he visits Galway, where he will stay in the luxurious Glenlo Abbey Hotel. He will visit a local farm and receive an honorary degree from NUI Galway.
