Gardai seize cannabis worth €1.2m in raid on cultivation operation

GARDAI have made a massive seizure of cannabis in Co Donegal.

Officers seized around 800 cannabis plants and 30 kilos of cannabis herb, with an estimated value of €1.2m.

The seizure was made during planned searches of lands and a premises at Carrickboy in Ballyshannon.

Gardaí from Ballyshannon and Bundoran assisted by the Regional Support Unit carried out the searches yesterday afternoon at around 4pm.

During the course of the search they discovered a large cannabis cultivation operation.

Two men, aged 40 and 41, were arrested at scene and are currently detained at Ballyshannon Garda Station.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination.
