Gardai seize €3.1m of drugs

GARDAI raided two warehouses yesterday and uncovered a sophisticated cannabis-growing operation with plants worth an estimated street value of €3.1m.

Three Chinese nationals were arrested in the raid, which targeted the premises in Piltown, Co Kilkenny. Gardai said they uncovered one of the most elaborate 'growhouse' operations ever encountered.

An estimated 3,000 plants were found along with 35kg of herbal cannabis. Gardai also found cultivation systems including heating and lighting equipment.
