GARDAI seized another €20,000 in cash and arrested two further suspects yesterday in a crackdown on a gang suspected of supplying drugs to the south east and parts of Munster.
Officers raided 10 houses in Carlow where they made the latest arrests.
The two men, who are both in garda custody this morning, include a business figure, who is suspected by gardai of facilitating the importation of drugs into the country for the gang.
The searches and arrests are the culmination of a year-long investigation into the activities of the gang, which has links with the criminal underworld in Dublin and Limerick.
Gardai said last night that the investigation has now been expanded into other gangland areas as a result of intelligence gathered.
Three of the 14 suspects arrested on Monday in Carlow, Meath and Wexford have since been released without charge while garda officers went before a special court sitting late last night to seek an extension in custody for others.
