Gardai seize €1.2m worth of drugs

GARDAI last night raided a house in Dublin and found a massive haul of heroin and cocaine worth about €1.2m.

A garda spokesman later confirmed that a 28-year-old man was arrested following the incident at a house in the Wheatfield area of Clondalkin. He was being held at Clondalkin garda station last night. It is understood about eight kilos of heroin and two kilos of cocaine were uncovered.

Pair on murder charge remanded

TWO people charged with the murder of a young father of one whose body was recovered from a river have been remanded in ongoing custody.

Catherine O'Connor (35) and Ciprian Grozavu (37) appeared for the second time before the District Court yesterday charged with the murder of Jonathan Duke (27) on November 13. Mr Duke's body was recovered from the River Bandon in west Cork on November 14. Judge James McNulty remanded the pair in ongoing custody to appear before Bandon District Court on December 16.

Man killed after being hit by train

A former estate agent died tragically last night when he was hit by a train near a rail station. Pascal Doherty, aged in his 50s, from Tavanaghmore, Knockmore, Ballina, Co Mayo, died at the scene near Foxford train station.

The incident happened shortly after 5.30pm. Mr Doherty is survived by his wife Pauline, and their three children.
