The collision occurred on Thursday morning, 13th August 2015 at approximately 11.15am on the N4 at Whitehill, around three kilometres south of Castlebaldwin, County Sligo.

Pauric Noone (62) died and three of his fellow workers were injured when they were struck by an articulated lorry .

One of the injured was airlifted to Galway University Hospital where his condition last night was described as critical.

The other two workers were treated for their injuries at Sligo General Hospital. Gardaí said their injuries were not life threatening.

Witnesses said signs warning of the hedge-cutting operation were visible on the road after the crash.

Mr Noone was a father of two who lived 2km from where the crash happened. He was a fan of traditional music and supporter of the Comhaltas. The Seisun Mór at the Fleadh in Sligo was cancelled yesterday afternoon as a mark of respect.
