Gardai release men quizzed over shooting

Brendan Farrelly

Three men arrested by detectives investigating the shooting of Robert Delaney in Tallaght 17 months ago were released without charge last night.

Gardai will now prepare a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions. The men, in their 20s, were arrested earlier yesterday. One of the men was arrested at his home in Tallaght and the other two were arrested at their homes in Finglas.

Mr Delaney was shot in the face with a shotgun when he looked out a window to see who had called to his home at Russell Rise in Tallaght in the early hours of October 22, 2008. He still remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Gardai from Tallaght were behind the operation yesterday morning. It is understood the men were arrested in connection with the unlawful possession of a firearm at the address where the shooting happened.
