Gardai have released a detailed description of the man who allegedly raped a young woman on her way to work in Dublin.
The woman, aged 20, claimed she was dragged down a laneway by three men and raped.
The suspected attackers are described as being in their early 20s and are thought to be Irish nationals.
The victim gave gardai a description of the alleged rapist as being around 5ft 10ins tall with red cheeks and distinctive crooked teeth.
Gardai have added to the description of the attackers in a statement issued this evening.
"Three men are believed to have been involved in this incident. The main culprit involved is described as being 5’9”, skinny build, shaved blonde hair with a light facial stubble," the statement reads.
"He is also described as having facial scaring. He was wearing grey cotton trousers with a white stripe down the side, a grey jumper with a hood and black runners."
The second man is described as being 6ft with a thin face and dark eyes.
"He was wearing a dark grey sweatshirt with a hood, he has what is described as a distinctive scar on his left hand. No description is available for the third man," the statement continues.
The shocking incident was reported on Sunday night after the woman, a foreign national, told gardai she was brutally attacked.
The victim was understood to have been on her way to work in a city takeaway at the time of the attack, which happened in broad daylight at 7.45pm in Phibsboro. Gardai report the attack to have taken place in a laneway beside a convenience shop across from St Peter's Church at Cabra Park.
The victim said three men had tried to engage her in conversation as she walked through the Cabra Park area.
The young woman ignored the men and kept walking.
But she told gardai that moments later she was dragged down a nearby laneway.
Investigators were told by the victim that one man held her down while a second man raped her.
The woman said the third man watched for a time before fleeing.
The other two attackers then ran away a short time later.
The victim contacted gardai immediately and was later brought to the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit at the Rotunda hospital.
“This matter is being taken very seriously by gardai,” a garda spokesman told the Herald today.
“This woman was minding her own business and walking to work in the city when these three men singled her out.
“Officers at Mountjoy station are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a young woman at 7.45pm on Sunday,” they added.
Gardai are examining CCTV footage recorded in the area to see if it could have picked up images of the suspects or the victim before or after the alleged attack.
Officers have also carried out house-to-house enquiries in Cabra Park and surrounding areas.
The scene of the alleged attack was sealed off today and examined by a forensic team from the garda technical bureau.
Gardai have asked for any witnesses who were in the area of Cabra Park who may have seen any groups of young men or suspicious activity between 7pm and 8pm to get in touch.
Investigating officers are particularly anxious to speak to a man who may have met these men in the laneway following the alleged incident.
They are also appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information to contact them at the Incident room at Mountjoy Garda Station on 01- 666 8666 , the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
