Gardai are investigating the sudden death of a six-month old baby girl who was found in Dublin city this morning.
The baby was found at Sherrard Avenue, near Dorset St in the north of the city at 7.30am.
She was taken to Temple Street Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A post-mortem is due to take place either this evening or tomorrow. Gardai in Mountjoy are investigating the incident.
A spokesman said it is unclear exactly what happened and their investigation is underway. However, it is understood that gardai are not treating the death as suspicious.
