Gardai investigating Boyle fire arrest third person
Detectives investigating an arson attack in Boyle, Co Sligo, in which a five-year-old girl died, have arrested a third person.
The man, in his 30s, was detained in Co Sligo before being taken to Boyle Garda station, Co Roscommon.
He is being questioned under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act about a house blaze in the early hours of October 3.
Marie Connolly was found dead in an upstairs bedroom of her father Richard's home in Boyle.
Her mother Teresa Keane had given birth to twin girls the previous weekend.
Mr Connolly was looking after the five-year-old and her two sisters Lauren, aged eight, and Naomi, aged six, who survived the fire.
A man and woman arrested over the arson attack last week were released later.
Gardai believe the fire was started deliberately.
"Investigations are ongoing," said a Garda spokesman.
