According to the Sunday World, the woman in her 60s was at the private hospital for an appointment to undergo a medical procedure.

It is believed she was assaulted when the medic entered the room where she was changing after the procedure and allegedly raped her.

Gardaí confirmed to Independent.ie that they are investigating an assault on a woman in Tralee on September 10.

Sources told the Sunday World that the medic has not been arrested and is denying the allegations.

The victim made an initial complaint before going to Cork University Hospital that evening to undergo a specialist medical examination.

She then made a formal complaint to Gardaí later in the week.

Gardaí in Tralee have visited the hospital in question to collect CCTV footage.

There were no cameras in the room the assault took place in, but there are some stationed around the area outside the room.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Tralee Garda Station on 066 7102 300.
