GARDAI are investigating a complaint regarding public nudity at a South Dublin beach.

GARDAI are investigating a complaint regarding public nudity at a South Dublin beach.

The complaint was made as pictures emerged of a naked man at a well known bathing spot close to Dalkey.

The man is with a companion, and is pictured sitting naked just yards away from young children.

The pictures were taken at popular bathing spot Hawk Cliff, close to upmarket Vico Road between Dalkey and Killiney.

The local authority confirmed they received a complaint regarding the incident and have forwarded it to gardai.

A witness said that the man and his companion undressed at the site to swim.

“At first the two men undressed and they were hugging. There is nothing wrong with swimming naked but in front of families it is not right,” the witness said.

“This is a very well-known are for swimming in South Dublin. It has all the facilities, including changing rooms.

“I felt it was totally inappropriate in front of children,” the witness said.

Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council confirmed that it has received a complaint regarding “nude bathing” in recent days at the spot.

A number of local politicians confirmed they had been contacted recently about the nude sunbathers and said they have forwarded the complaints to the council.

A council spokesperson said while they have received a complaint in recent days, such incidents are rare.

“Any complaints received in relation to nude bathing or public sexual acts will be forwarded on to An Garda Siochana for their consideration”.
