Gardai investigate aggravated burglary of woman in her 80s

Gardai are investigating an aggravated burglary at the home of an elderly woman.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night at the pensioner’s home in Clonmore, Edenderry, Co Offaly.

A man entered her home at approximately 7.15pm and threatened her before demanding money.

It’s not believed he was armed and the woman did not sustain any injuries.

The woman, who was in her eighties, was treated at her home.

Gardai in Edenderry are appealing for witnesses or anybody who may have seen suspicious activity in the Clonmore area between 6pm and 9pm on Tuesday evening.

They are urged to contact Edenderry Gardai on on 046 973 1290 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

The latest aggravated burglary comes less than a week after a pensioner was subjected to a terrifying ordeal at his home in Crumlin.

And last month, three men attacked another homeowner with a hatchet in South Dublin.
