Gardai investigate after man robbed of casino winnings and beaten up

A gang beat up and robbed a man as he left a casino.

The victim is understood to have won a large amount of money and was targeted as he let the casino.

His car was rammed and he was beaten up before the money was taken during the incident in Limerick in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The incident occurred at 1.40am.

The victim was taken to hospital where his injures were described as not life threatening.

Four people, two men and two women, were arrested yesterday afternoon in follow up searches by gardai at Roxboro Road who are investigating the incident.

The two men, aged 25 and 31, are still being questioned in Roxboro Road under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The two women, aged 28 and 31, were taken to Henry Street garda station.

One remains in custody and the other was released yesterday afternoon.

A file is being prepared for the DPP.
