Gardai investigate after body found in river

GARDAI are investigating the discovery of a man's body in a river in Co Wicklow.

The body was discovered at 10.15pm last night in an area called South Green, near Arklow harbour. An ambulance and an undertaker were called to the scene, and the body was recovered from the water at 11pm.

Clergy help Trocaire

Catholic clergy contributed almost €1m to Trocaire in 2012. According to Trocaire's figures, the organisation received total donations of €25,771,596 last year.

Director Justin Kilcullen said: "The clergy lead by example when it comes to supporting vital contact work overseas."

Woman charged

A 21-year-old woman will appear before magistrates on January 29 charged in relation to the murder of Monaghan student Jason McGovern, who was attacked on New Year's Eve in Omagh.

The PSNI charged her with perverting the course of justice. Four men and a youth already face charges of affray.
