Gardai discover cannabis factory in Galway and seize cannabis plants in Laois raid

A CANNABIS cultivation factory has been uncovered by gardai in Co Galway.

About 800 plants and growing equipment worth some €640,000 were seized at a property at Clovewood, Derrylissane, Menlough, Co Galway at 2pm yesterday.

One man in his late 20s was arrested at the scene and is detained at Galway Garda Station under Sect 2 of Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The discovery was part of a planned search and involved members of the Divisional Drug Unit and local Gardai.

Meanwhile, two men were arrested and cannabis plants believed to be worth €140,000, were seized when gardai raided a house at Ballacolla, Co Laois.

The search took place yesterday and the men are being held at Portlaoise Garda Station, Gardai said.
