Gardai believe robbers killed man in his home

Gardai hunting the killers of a 64-year-old father of three who was battered to death and left in a pool of blood in his home believe he was murdered by robbers.

The body of Toddy Dooley (64) was found on a chair in his home at Sister Senan Court, a council estate for elderly people in Edenderry, Co Offaly.

Gardai made the grim find after being alerted by neighbours who had not seen him for days. His attacker placed a cushion over his blood-spattered head before fleeing.
