Gardai arrest suspect after cash-in-transit hold-up in Dublin

Gardai have arrested a suspect after a cash in transit hold up on the northside of Dublin this afternoon.

Two men, armed with what is believed to be a  handgun, held up security staff as they stopped at a petrol station at Grange Road, Baldoyle, at lunchtime.

They grabbed a cash box, containing an unknown sum of money, and made their escape.

Garda patrols saturated the area and shortly afterwards arrested a 23-year-old suspect at nearby Moyne Road.

They recovered money but a search was continuing this evening for the gun and box.

The suspect, who is from Finglas, is being questioned at Raheny garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

He can be held without charge for up to 24 hours, excluding rest periods.
