Gardaí from Belmullet Garda Station carried out a search operation at a house near Bangor Erris, Co. Mayo, at around 9am today.

Gardai seized 30 Cannabis plants at various stages of growth, along with a large drying chamber, fertiliser and liquid feed. 

The man is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The investigation is ongoing.

A garda statement today said these operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks.

Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities.

Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
