Gardai arrest man after body is discovered at Dublin house

Gardai have arrested a man after another male was found dead in his house in Dublin.

The discovery was made at a property at Summerville Park, Rathmines on Monday night.

Gardai received a call at approximately 11.30pm that an incident had occurred at a house.

Gardai and the Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene where they discovered the body of a 59-year-old man.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body remained at the scene and it was preserved overnight.

Dr Marie Cassidy attended the scene yesterday morning and later carried out a post mortem on the body at the City Morgue, Marino.

Gardai have now launched a murder investigation. A 67-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday morning in Dublin in connection with the incident and is currently being detained at Rathmines Garda station.

He is being held under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
