Gardai arrest four men over crime spree

FOUR men are being questioned by gardai investigating a spate of robberies and burglaries in counties Carlow and Kilkenny.

The suspects were arrested yesterday by local officers as part of Operation Fiacla, which was set up to tackle travelling gangs involved in similar crimes nationwide.

The four men, all in their 20s, were detained during planned searches at a number of locations in counties Laois, Carlow and Kilkenny and were taken for questioning to Thomastown and Carlow garda stations. They were being held last night under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

All of them have been targets for several months following an upsurge of house crime.
