FOUR people have been arrested on the Dun Laoghaire seafront after allegedly assaulting two men and throwing rocks at swimmers near Sandycove strand.
Gardai said they are investigating the alleged assaults, which occurred in the Bullock Harbour area of south Dublin city and resulted in minor injuries for both victims.
"Four persons were arrested, detained and questioned," said a garda spokesman.
"All four have been released pending a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions and we are still investigating at this stage."
An onlooker said one of the victims was covered in blood from a head injury as he fled his attackers, before collapsing on the road near Bullock Harbour.
The witness said the youths then moved up towards Dun Laoghaire – close to where they had been throwing rocks into the swimming area – and attacked another man.
A local business owner said the sunny weather has seen up to 250 young people drinking on the seafront over recent days.
