The 54-year-old man was found dead at a building site on Harbour Road in Skerries yesterday.

Authorities are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area the time, at approximately 11:50am.

Felix O’Hare Contractors was the company that had been carrying out the construction work at Skerries Harbour.

They are currently working with the HSA to investigate the tragic accident and were unable to issue a full comment at the time of publishing.

However, Managing Director Gerry Gray wished to extend his “sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family of the man who died”.

“We are completely shattered as a result of this unfortunate accident,” he told independent.ie.

It is understood that the man was not involved in the construction work that was being undertaken.

Dublin Fire Brigade first responded to the emergency call at 11.35am yesterday morning.

"Ambulance and advanced paramedics attended the scene very quickly and the body was removed from the scene," according to a DFB spokesperson.

The relevant authorities were notified and an investigation is now underway.

Balbriggan Gardai are currently looking after the investigation.
