Gardai appeal for witnesses after woman (39) is killed in collision with van

A woman was killed following a collision with a van this afternoon.

The female pedestrian (39) was walking on the Moynead Cross to Shanballyduff Cross road near Thurles when the incident occurred at approximately 4.10pm.

Gardaí in Thurles are investigating the fatal collision and have appealed for witnesses.

The woman was seriously injured in the collision and pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body was removed to the morgue at Limerick Regional Hospital.

The male driver of the van was uninjured in the collision.

The road was closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and local traffic diversions are in place.

It is expected that the road will remain closed until at least tomorrow morning.
