A man is recovering today after he was stabbed during an incident last night.

Gardai have issued an appeal for witnesses following the incident which occurred in Dundalk, Co Louth, last night.

The 24-year-old victim was seriously injured when he was stabbed during an incident on Mill Road in the town. It occurred at approximately 10pm.

The victim's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A man has been arrested in connection to the incident and is currently being detained at Dundalk Garda Station.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
