Garda sergeants and inspectors are to join the strike planned by their rank and file colleagues on the four Fridays in November.
A special conference of the leadership of their association, the AGSI, decided this afternoon that individual members would "withdraw labour" on the Fridays to coincide with the Garda Representative Association strike "for maximum impact".

The move is a major blow to the Government and complicates contingency plans for policing on November 4, 11, 18 and 25.
President Antoinette Cunningham said the Agsi had taken legal action before embarking on their campaign.
The initial phase of their campaign will be launched on Friday, October 21, when Agsi members will not log onto the Pulse computer system or engage in any Pulse-related activities for 12 hours.
This will be followed on October 28 by an extension of their Pulse ban.
