Garda probe launched after discovery of body of a woman at a house

GARDAI are investigating the discovery of a body of a woman in her early 50s, which was found in Clonard in Co Wexford yesterday evening.

The body was found at 7:30pm at a premises in the Cluain Dara housing estate in Clonard, Co Wexford.

The scene has been preserved and the circumstances are being investigated.

It is not yet clear whether the discovery of the body is being treated as suspicious.

Early reports indicate that the women is a foreign national. 

The estate where the discovery was found, Cluain Dara, has been described as a very quiet housing development with more than 150 houses, mainly occupied by families.

Local councillor and former mayor of Wexford, George Lawlor, said the local community are “shocked” by the discovery.

"The housing estate where the body was found is relatively new," said My Lawlor.

"There are a lot of houses in the area and there are quiet a lot of the houses rented.

“Wexford is a very quiet area and people look out for each other.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of the deceased.”
