Gardai are investigating the death of a 36-year-old Polish man whose body was found in the early hours of yesterday morning in Co Longford.
The man’s body was found at an apartment in Harbour Point, near the Market Square area of the town.
Investigators are trying to establish if he was injured in an altercation prior to his death but an initial post mortem has proved inconclusive.
The man had been out socialising with friends on Saturday night and may have fallen at one stage.
Longford gardai sealed off an apartment in Harbour Point and the man’s body was brought to the regional hospital in Tullamore..
Further inquiries will take place today to re-trace the man’s last movements and try to determine if he had suffered any injuries that may have contributed to his death.
A forensic examination of the scene was due to be carried out by members of the garda technical bureau today.
Other residents are also due to be interviewed to ascertain if they saw or heard anything suspicious.
