Garda Ombudsman launches probe into man’s death

The Garda Ombudsman Commission has announced an investigation into the death of a man in Co Louth.

The man had walked into a shop in Green Acres, Dundalk, at around 9.30pm in a distressed state.

After Gardaí were called to the scene, and detained the man, he became unwell.

An ambulance was called and he was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where he was pronounced dead.

The man was in his mid-thirties.

A post mortem examination will be carried out today and an Ombudsman investigation has been launched.
