GARDAI have launched a murder investigation after the body of a man was discovered in a field in Dublin.

The 37-year-old was found with a single gunshot wound to his head near Killanarden Hill at approximately 9pm last night.

The man had been missing for a number of weeks.

The area remains sealed off while a post mortem examination carried out this evening confirmed the man was shot in the back of the head.

It is believed his murder is linked to a firearms seizure in Tallaght almost three weeks ago.

Three rifles, a handgun and two sawn-off shotguns along with a large amount of ammunition were recovered during a search of a house in the Kilclare area.
