Garda is attacked by five pitbull terriers
A Garda has undergone surgery after he was attacked by five pitbull terriers.
An investigation was under way last night into the incident which left 50-year-old Donal Foley, a former Tipperary footballer, with wounds to his hands, legs and lower body.
Garda Foley was calling to a house in Ballymacarbry, on the Tipperary-Waterford border, when a pack of dogs came around a corner and attacked him on Monday night.
He was taken to South Tipperary general hospital in Clonmel where he had surgery for some of his injuries on Tuesday.
Gda Foley, who is a prominent member of Moyle Rovers GAA club, has been stationed in the area for the past 25 years.
