Gardaí investigating the murder of Noel Kirwan have made two arrests this morning.

A man and a woman (both aged in their 20s) were arrested in north county Dublin this morning and are being detained at Lucan and Blanchardstown garda stations.

Noel 'Duck Egg' Kirwan (60s) was shot in his driveway shortly after 5pm on December 22 last.

He was shot a number of times as  he sat in a car.

His partner, who was also in the car, escaped the incident unharmed.

A lone gunman shot Mr Kirwan several times as he sat in the driveway of his home on St Ronan's Drive in Clondalkin, Dublin 22.

Mr Kirwan was a close friend of Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch' and is considered the tenth victim of the bloody Kinahan Hutch feud.

He was not involved in criminality at the time of his death.

A white Peugeot Partner  van was found burnt out a short distance away at the Neilstown Shopping Centre.
