A garda was injured after being dragged along the road by a getaway car when he and a colleague stopped an attempted burglary taking place in broad daylight.

Gardai have issued an appeal for information on two men who were trying to break into a private house at Davis Road in Clonmel, Co Tipperary at about 10.30am yesterday. It's understood they were using a crowbar to force the window of the house.

They were challenged by two gardaí who were on routine patrol and immediately got into a sky-blue Nissan Almera, with a registration number starting 04-D. One of the gardai got stuck between the door and the main body of the car.
