Gardaí have appealed for witnesses following the death of a 47-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle.

At approximately 00.25 on October 9 a 47-year-old male pedestrian was fatally injured when he was stuck by a car on Shelbourne Road, Dublin 4.  He was treated by emergency services personnel but was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

Shelbourne Road between Bath Avenue and Lansdowne Road is currently closed to traffic to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The body of the deceased has been removed to the City Mortuary and the Coroner has been notified.

Gardaí would particularly like to speak with the driver a blue people carrier/MPV taxi which stopped in the vicinity of Shelbourne Road at the time of the accident.

This taxi stopped and let people out before driving off in the direction of Merrion Road.

Gardaí are appealing to the driver or the passengers of this taxi to contact Donnybrook Garda Station on 01-6669200 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
