Garda appeal after man dies in road crash

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses following a single-vehicle fatal crash in Co Louth.

At around 2.20am gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a single-car crash at Ballybinaby near Hackballscross.

The occupant of the car, a 23-year-old man, was ­pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

His body has since been ­removed to the mortuary at Louth County Hospital.

The scene is preserved for examination by Garda ­forensic collision investigators. The ­coroner was notified.

A Garda spokesperson said: "Investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them at Dundalk Garda station 042-9388400 or the Garda confidential line 1800 666 111."
