Garda among two injured in two-vehicle crash tonight

A garda and a female driver have been injured in a two-vehicle collision in Co Kerry this evening.

The Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) has been notified of the incident and will investigate.

The crash occurred on the N22 Killarney/ Farranfore Rd near Scart Cross at around 7.45pm.

The woman, aged in her 30s, has sustained serious injuries in the crash and has been taken to Kerry General Hospital.

The garda, who was the sole occupant of a garda van, also suffered injuries though they are not believed to be as serious.

The garda has also been taken to Kerry General Hospital with injuries described as minor.

A third vehicle may also have been clipped in the incident but it is not believed anyone in this car was injured.

The road remains open but one of the laneways has been closed to allow for a clear up and for an investigation to take place.

A spokesperson for GSOC confirmed investigators are on their way to the scene.
