Gang used van to force bank doors
A BRAZEN armed gang ramraided a bank with a van before holding up its staff and making off with a substantial sum of money. The raid occurred at a branch of Bank of Ireland at Main Street, Kingscourt, Co Cavan, shortly before 5pm yesterday.
The bank had closed for the day but officials were still inside.
The gang used a white-coloured, Citroen van to force open the door of the bank before two of the men jumped inside and held up the terrified bank officials with handguns.
The men initially made their escape in a waiting car with a driver which was discovered burnt out a short distance away. They then drove in a second car in the direction of Bailieboro, Co Cavan.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Bailieboro garda station 042 969 4570, or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
