Fresh inquest into liposuction patient's death

A DATE has been set for a fresh inquest into the death of a man who died while undergoing liposuction in Colombia.

Pierre Christian Lawlor (33), from Belarmine Place, Stepaside, Dublin, died on September 3, 2007, while undergoing the procedure on his face and torso at the Centro Colombade Cirugia Plastica in Bogota.

An initial inquest into Mr Lawlor's death at the Dublin County Coroner's Court returned an open verdict, but this was quashed by the High Court on appeal by his family.

At Dublin Coroner's Court, Coroner Dr Brian Farrell said he believed the court had enough information to proceed with a fresh inquest, and set a new date for the inquest for February 21, 2013.
