IRELAND’S €10m jackpot winner purchased the prize ticket before the Lotto’s embarrassing technical glitch.

It was originally believed that the lucky winner picked up the €8 quick pick in the extra purchasing hours made available as a result first-ever delayed Lotto draw.

However, the National Lottery have now confirmed that the ticket, which was bought in Jordan’s Centra in Curragh Grange, Newbridge, Co Kildare, was actually purchased last Thursday, January 29.

The shop is offering free tea and coffee to all its customers today to celebrate the massive win.

Store manager John Murray said staff will be celebrating all day.

“As much as it was a hassle for the Lotto on Wednesday it was good news for us yesterday, we are now the first agent to sell a winning national lotto ticket on a Thursday [for a Thursday night draw],” he said.

“I was absolutely delighted when I found out. It’s great for this area here. I hope it’s someone in the area."

The numbers drawn for the €10,230,560 jackpot were 9,10,18,20,24,26 and the bonus was 35.

Mr Murray said he won't even hazard a guess as to who the winner might be.

“I have absolutely no suspicion whatsoever [about the winner]. It’s a close knit community. Around here, it’s a busy enough shop.”

Store owner Alan Jordan and Mr Murray will meet representatives from the National Lottery today.

And they’re offering tea and coffee on the house to all their customers today.

"Any customer who comes in to get tea or coffee today will get it free," he said.

“It’s great for the store. It puts Curragh Grange on the map. I always said ‘one day we’ll win it’ because we sell so many tickets. We’re so busy.”

Wednesday’s scheduled lotto draw had to be postponed after technical issues saw ticket machines go down nationwide.

The National Lottery decided to hold the draw last night as a result.

The numbers drawn in Lotto Plus 1 were 7,8,28,33,41,43 and the bonus was 38.

Lotto Plus 2 results were 2,6,10,18,25,37 and a bonus of 38.

Saturday’s jackpot is a guaranteed €2m.
