Four men and one woman arrested in garda operation targeting dissident republician activity

Four men and one woman have been arrested in a garda operation targeting dissident republician activity.
The five people, aged between the early 40s to late 60s, were arrested under Section 30, Offences Against the State Act, 1939/1998 and detained at a number of Garda stations in Dublin Region.
Three of those arrested have addresses in Belfast, Northern Ireland, according to gardai.
All five people were arrested in the Dublin 15 area on Saturday afternoon.
All five people will appear at a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court at 5 p.m. today to be charged in relation to the investigation.
A garda spokesperson said gardaí will continue to liaise closely with the Police Service of Northern Ireland in relation to this investigation.
The operation targeting dissident republician activity, namely the IRA in the Dublin Region, is led by Special Detective Unit, Emergency Response Unit and Crime and Security Branch.
