FORMER Green Party TD Dan Boyle is going back to college – to study politics.

The ex-politician has accepted a place on a Masters course in Government and Public Policy at University College Cork (UCC).

Despite the experience he built up serving as a TD for Cork South-Central from 2002 to 2007 and in Seanad Eireann from 2007 to 2011, the 50-year-old admitted he still had much to learn.

"I've been offered and have accepted a place as a Masters student at UCC from September. Life will become more interesting," he said.

Mr Boyle revealed that he was going back to education yesterday on his Facebook page.

"I will always be open to learning experiences," he explained.

"It's an MBS in Government and Public Policy. Figure it was about time I got a handle on the theory."

Asked if it meant he would not return to politics, he said: "I wouldn't see the two activities as being necessarily mutually exclusive."

Following the collapse of the last government, Mr Boyle went on to record an album called 'Third Adolescence' and played a number of live shows.

He has continued to express an opinion on political matters using his social networking sites.

However, he has so far shunned a return to politics.
